Do I need a separate amp
Do I need a separate amp
Hi guys , sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I recently brought hertz Esk 160 speakers for my car, which it says run at 100 watts and 200 peak. Well my car head unit comes with built in 50 watt amps. Is this enough for the speakers to work effective , and if not , how powerful an amp do I buy , cheers for the help
Your head unit will put out 15-20watts continuous.
You need an external amp ideally. Running off of headunit power, stock speakers often sound better.
Find yourself a two or four channel amp that will provide 150watts RMS x 2 at 4ohm.
Power is cheap nowadays. Check the classifieds and you won't have a problem finding something to fit the bill.
Good choice on the Hertz btw.

Thanks mate. Will I notice a difference in sound quality as well as loudness?? Plus will mu cars alternator be able to handle it all?? And yeah, the hertz do sound sweet at the moment , just trying to get them better
