WTF happend to them? I was wasting time in Future Shop today waiting for the wife to get off of work. I decided to check out the car audio stuff to find out how behind the times I have become.
I saw these shiney, flashy, cheesey decks with big ugly *****. I peered a little closer to find out they were Eclipse! Man, I must be out of touch if people are finding this crap attractive in their cars.
Man, am I ever getting old. No wonder I sold my gear and bought a mountain bike.

They are the same as the ones I carry....but mine have better value for the customer...service has to be worth something these days. Give it a bit guys and the looks will grow on you. I still prefer the looks of old but what can we do. The internals are still the same as ever and that is what is more important anyways.

Eclipse is going main stream and it is making me angry. People don't like me when I am angry! I was sersiously looking into getting an eclipse, but I don't want them now that future shop and A&B sound carry them. Especially their new models. Last year were decent, but now they just seem to be going downhill.

Actually, A&B Sound is no longer an authorized dealer from what I understand.... As far as the line going into FS, this is a business move by the distributor, do not confuse business with the products capabilities. That said, I still believe that Eclipse and FS is a very poor match that will untimately make Eclipse just another line, ho hum. Poor move if you ask me, but that is business.

When Ray Windsor was with Eclipse he came to Vancouver & held an Eclipse seminar which I attended. At that time (mid-90s) he was utterly committed to the independent retailer & verbally promised that Eclipse would never be in a "box mover".
Unfortunately, the market has changed & with the voloume of business done by the "big box" stores, companies like Eclipse wouldn't survive unless they made this move. It had to be done.
By pulling out of A&B after only a year, it hints at where they think A&B's business is going.
So far this year we've seen both Eclipse & Clarion (to a larger extent than previous years) move into Future Shop. Word is that Alpine will be next year as they are already in Best Buy in the US.
As Rob mentioned above, as long as the supplier is prepared for the increase in production they will incur, the product quality should remain the same. Don't judge a product necessarily by the retail channel they choose to support. Eclipse is great product just as most of the 12V suppliers out there are as well.
