Enclosure Question

ok, I have baught the Fi BTL 18 inch subwoofer for 300$ used, and I baught the Hifonics brutis 2610D amplifier brand new 400$. I dont have alot more disposable money right now, so Im gonna get my step dad (Very, very expierienced wood worker) to custom make me a box. I want it to be a ported box, but I need the dimensions and everything basically. He said it was best to use maybe anywhere from .5 inch - 1 inch thick MDF particle board, basic wood glue, psilicone, and carpet but he has never specifically made a sub box. Can anyone give me direct help towards a kick *** sub box? also, you dont need to worry about how complicated it is, my step dad has been making high end furniture (China Cabinets, Dining room tables, ect.) for 30 years.

Also, which component set would go well with this? I need mid-ranges, and tweeters. would maybe a ZXI6.2C hifonics set contend with my other gear? also, gonna need a 4 channel amp to power them too, any suggestions?

What kind of vehicle is it going in? What are your maximum dimensions you can give up? And what kind of performance are you looking for in sound reproduction?

Unless someone else knows the size of trunk. It will be hard to do. Seeing as you want SPL out of an 18. So if you could get the dimensions it would be much easier to know what you are working with.

your going to need to take up every single square inche of space to fit a properly ported 18" woofer in there.

your look at a minimum of 6 cubic feet after all displacements, and alot of port area.

i would suggest doing a sub up port back design.
