I think you were measuring wrong. There is no way for what you describe to happen. </font>
i may have been measuring wrong, but i dont think i was. im no electrical engineer or anything, but using a multimeter isnt exactly rocket science, i used it the same both times before and after the upgrade. does it not make sense that more voltage can flow through the whole circuit if there is a larger path for the power to go through?

What devices are you using to tell if your battery is charged all the or not.
I have a Phoenix Gold Distribution block with a Voltage meter...I have the Voltage meter display up front...this set-up gives me a real-time display of my Battery/ALT's voltage constantly...

...this is how I found out what the difference was when I upgraded my ALT's power wire to 4 gauge...My first readings from a drained Battery with the car ON was a low (13.3-13.8volts) even after three days I still had this reading on my display...but when I upgraded, it took about an hour or so to get back up to 14.2-14.8.(Depending on how hot the ALT IS) A cold alt will start charging at around 14.7 volts...a hot ALT stays in the 14.0 range and under.

Hmmm, 13.8 sounds just a bit under 14.0 to me.

</font>
The voltage meter you are using is not an accurate device, not only that, but it is not showing anything to do with voltage from the alt to the battery or even at the battery. It shows voltage at the distro block (and not very accurately at that). A properly functioning alt will charge at the same voltage no matter what it's temp, although amperage will drop when hot.
</font>
Assuming it's the voltage directly from my DISTRIBUTION BLOCK...my Amp's power wire is only .5 Feet away from the BLOCK...and my BATTERY is wired only .5 feet away from the block also...I also took a multimeter test on my BATTERY to see if PG's unit is calibrated properly and I got the exact same reading...no matter where I placed the multimeter...so I am getting an accurate reading from the unit. And that is a plus because if it did not do what is supposed to do then I would have to call PG and ask them for my $500 back I spent on the unit... </font>
You spent $500 on a dist block?

I wish I had that kinda $ just lying around

halo can you please explain in detail how a voltmeter determines that a battery is fully charged
i would say from my knowlage that you don't know shet from tar
you like to prove things that you obviously know nothing about
you make internet knowlage a dangerous thing
