Focal 3 way components - Problem?

Hello all,

I just received my focal 3 way components. These came in with UPS and the box was quite damaged. Just have few questions to see if these are OK or should I try and fight UPS, or the sender to get me replacement.

Questions:

1. The crossover networks when played at very lound levels are emiting sound that sounds like the song that is being played. You can even make out words in the songs. It is best heard when I disconnect all the speakers from the crossover network. Of course the sound is very primitive but you can definitely hear the song. Also one of the crossovers does it louder then the other. Is this normal?

2. The midrange speaker came in with the cone stuck in the MAX excursion position. After fidling with it for a bit it pop back in the magnet. Now teh cone moves but there is litle friction when you move the cone up and down. The good midrange and the woofers itself have no friction at all. Also when played that midrange is much, much less loud than the good midrange. The sound also seems much more distorted. Is the midrange blown, or asambled unevenly?

Any ideas, suggestions, please help.

when a product is shipped it is supposed to be 100% functional as in is advertised description. if this is not the case, than you should return it for another.

I have heard crossovers do this myself. Focal speakers all have serial#'s. Post the serial #'s of all items I will check for authenticity. There are definitely counterfeit Focals on the market, most notably in the Poly Kevlar line.

If an item is damaged in shipping, you shouldn't even install it. Call the supplier (immediately) and get it replaced.

I've had stuff replaced at work no problem. The only problem I've had personally is a set of woofers I had the surrounds replaced by Speaker City in vancover. I shipped my woffer to then, packed really really well in a heavey duty box. They did a beautiful job of replacing the surrounds, then, a really really poor job of packing them in thier own cheappy box. One woffer was broken, bad. Die cast was broken. Since they were irreplaceable, they sent me a new set of some cheappy no-name brand subs that were the wrong size.
My Technics honeycomb disc studio monitors are completely ruined.
And I'll never deal with Speaker City again. And I tell this story to anyone who is thinking of dealing with them.

Thank you everyone for your comments and info.

MR2NR - FAKE focal speakers?? Holy s**t I had no idea you can fake/counterfeit speakers. Oh my, I am freaking out now. I will definitely post the serial numbers, but my fiance is at my place for the weekend and if I pull out the box and she sees it then se will have a fit(I am not contributing to the wedding found as she calls it but am getting speakers for my car...hehehe). In any case please, please give me till Sunday evening, I will post the serial #'s then. I did notice however when I was testing the speakers that a part of a serial number is engraved in the magnet itself and the second part is a sticker. for example 30-12345, the 30- would be engraved and the 12345 was a sticker. I figured that maybe they run a batch of speakers(ie 30-) and then number each individual speaker set with the sticker #(ie 12345).

As per the crossovers if the coil has loose windings is it still working properly? I looked at the crossovers and they look pretty solid and have some sort of epoxy on them. Or should I send thee back as well.
