Fosgate amp reissue....
Why is it that the majority of board members are consistently fascinated with power numbers? I think we are all missing the point here guys and gals. We should be concerned more with sound quality whether it be SQ and or SPL. I'm probably the most adament old scholl RF fanatic on this board as I have owned everything PRE 1992 RF and all I can say is that the bottom end of the majority of RF amplifier of this era are something to be in awe of even today both SQ and SPL wise. If you were not there please don't comment! There are only a handful of people on this board that would be better qualified on this board to comment on this entire RF question (old vs new)

Blah blah blah. I had a punch 45 back in the day. It ran my subs. Yes they were loud. They were also in a huge ported box. 4.5 cubes for a pair of tens. The subs had very light paper cones, and tiny small light voice coils. That amp would be very unimpressive on a quality sub built within the last couple years.
The new stuff costs less and puts out more power and has better reliability.

Let's see, 10kw, 15kw, 20-30kw systems today competing throughtout the world in various organizations today. I'm not certain what the current db drag record is today but let's use 173-177db as the acceptable range. Burps that last for a second, amplifiers loaded down to 0.25ohms and subwoofer technology that NASA would die for. I was there when Mark (cannot recall his surname, perhaps ***ada) experimented with every possible RF amplifier and blew the entire car audio world off its feet with some ridiculous SQ results not to mention SPL results while playing continuous music that could be enjoyed at moderate levels or with proper hearing protection, would blow you through the windshield. We are talking maybe 150 watts to a maximum of 2000watts at the time. I'm not certain as to what DB numbers he hit on consistent basis but you mean to tell me this is how little we have progressed. What ever happened to the music along the way! Real players and not imitators can enjoy the clarity of there music without ear bleeds but at the same time can pound it out with the best of them with systems rated 10-20 times there rated output. When spring time comes around drop me a line and I will show you what a Punch 45 (old school) can really do. You very well may want to listen to the music instead of annoying all your neighbours with distortion that no one ever seems to mention either.

^ Mark's highest recorded score was a 159.6db and he used to smoke every woofer every round. That's how it was back then. And he used 'burps' for SPL rounds.
He used to shoot the odd voicecoil through a dustcap too. That would be neat to see
