Given a higher rated sub by mistake...good or bad??
Hi forum,
I had sound installed in my c230 coupe and I had chosen in the shop a JVC AR959BS deck, a Hertz HE1D amp (200W RMS) and the Pinoeer TS-SW251 10" shallow mount sub (800w peak / 200W RMS).
After a day or two, I realized they gave me the wrong sub! They gave me a Pioneer TS-SW2502 (not TS-SW251)! It is identical in look and size but this has a 1200W peak / 400w RMS capability.
I was advised to have the amp's power being at least 75% of the sub's RMS. I was meant to have 200W RMS amp going to 200W RMS sub. Now, with the incorrect sub, I have 200W RMS going to 400RMS sub.
My question is: is this a good thing or bad thing? The sub I have is actually a little more expensive than the one I originally chose, but I am looking from a performance point of view. Thanks for the help!!
