4X10 ayy? well I have helped my friend with a couple setups involving this size, if your going to keep the 4X10 size Pioneer TSA4103 (2 Way) are pretty decent, they sound pretty phenomenal for the price. he picked them up for 95CAD, he had these for about 7 weeks, he decided to "upgrade" to the JL Audio XR400-CX 4" round with an adaptor plate I believe, they sound pretty nice to, mind you he has a lot more tuning and low-level support, so I cant really compare both of these speaker, but what I will say is both sounded pretty good.

I've never seen the Eclipse but the Kenwood 2way is a decent unit for a 4x10 anyway..

is not the concept of a "good" 4x10 an oxymoron? If they can fit get 4x10 to 6x9 adaptors -- a $150 and up 6x9 will kill any 4x10"

^ Oh absolutely. Anything to wedgie in a 6x9 or even a 5x7 is an upgrade.

BUT in some cars it's tough to get the larger driver in there.

The eclipse speakers sound amazing. His vehicle is one where the mounting adaptors will not work. So it would be extreme fabrication to mount something larger or a minor fabrication to mount something different. As this is a fill speaker, drop in the 4x10" and call it a day. Unless you have a monster amplifier to drive the rear fill speakers with, the amount of power they are able to handle has nothing to do with how loud they are going to go. What you put in is what you will put out.
