Help With an AUdi A4.

Hello to all, i am looking for some feedback as to a few things about my audi audio system.
1 - I am looking to improve the sq but can i do that just with a component change and sub addition? Can i keep the stock head unit(non bose, non nav, Symphony system)? Or should i be looking at replacing it?

2- I want to use either Focal 130 series or Hybrid Technologies Legatia series components for my front stage and maybe focal 165cA1 for the rear doors. Any opinions on these would be helpful.

3 - i am leaning toward a JL 10w6 in a sealed box but have heard some good things about Image Dynamics Idmax d2 in a sealed box.
Also what amps would benifit these components. Leaning to JL HD series or audison.

thanks in advance for any help.

You can keep the stock HU, and you can buy an HU with nav and all that. Replacing the stock one never hurts. If you're getting one than get one with a good EQ.

All subs mentioned are SQ subs. SSA audio, Fi, Ascendant, RE, Morel, to name a few others.

How much power are you using for the sub(s)? IDMAX is 1000W RMS and the 10W6 is 600W RMS.

I dunno how much you know about sealed box response so...

Sub choice really depends on what you listen to. With a sealed box, a flat response = QTC .707 @ FC. After that "roll-off" frequency (FC), depending on the QTC, it will roll off at -12dB/octave - as in 20-30Hz or 30-40Hz. A QTC of .707 = -12dB/octave, and a lower QTC like .4 is around .. I dunno, -8dB/octave. A QTC from .4-1.2 is generally okay. A QTC of .707 is the most efficient response, however most 10's start to roll off at ?-12dB/octave at 50-60Hz. If you want true SQ, it'll have to sound good, and dig down into the low 30's. There's a big difference between ported (+3dB - tuned to 30Hz), and a sealed boxes -24dB @ 30Hz (if the roll-off starts at 50Hz with QTC .707). The "F3" value is the -3dB down-point. Your subs may start to roll off at -12dB/octave starting at 40Hz but it can already be -3dB down at 50Hz. This is why going below QTC .707 is less efficient. When the FC & F3 are the same, that's .707 QTC. Not many sealed 10's will model to something like QTC .707 @ 30Hz in 1-2 cubes (Eclipse SW8000 in 1.75 cubes).
