This is what I am going to get done:

Upgrade Main Power to 4 Guage Wiring
Buy reference 6020CS speakers for front
Move 6012i to rear with baffles
Install 4 Channel MTX Amp with 8 guage wiring
Buy Dynamat Trunk Kit, Door Kit and License Plate

I will see how it sound after all this. I will slowly get other accessories or upgrade different parts of my sound system one at a time. I guess it is a lengthy process to set up a good quality car audio system.

Thank you so much

I owned a set of polk components for a few years. I liked the polks because to my ear they sounded as good as Infinity, but were cheaper. Yet, within 6 months, I wasn't fully satisfied with the sound. I started noticing the weaknesses of the upper midrange and blending between tweeter and midrange was less than stellar.

I think that you might experience the same thing from Infinity - sound good at first, but in a little bit of time you might be disappointed in them.

Here is an interesting discussion regarding SQ in North america where this guy says

The whole thing sounded like the thing was out of phase even.... Made the $60 pioneer's look elite. I just kept quiet and walked out.
Now, cruiseoveride is over stating his point, but I do agree that for the price point, Infinity is not a good deal. Most big box stores sell infinity for comps for $300 - $400. If that's what you're planning on spending, head to a specialty car shop and you'll be amazed at what other companys make at that price point.

My local car shop has some good sounding Clarion components Clarion's top of the line (which were on sale for $250 last month - regularly $400+) and Kaption comps for $250 - $400 - all of which sound substantially better than infinity at the same price point.

Just a quick suggestion, obviously you are going to be upgrading in the future. I would strongly suggest putting in some good 0/1ga now. Since you are going to be changing it anyways why not put in wire you will not have to rip out in 6 months because you bought a bigger amp and the 4ga will not cut it. I know from experience about this. Just ran 4ga 4months ago and now have the 0/1ga sitting there waiting for the warm weather to be installed. If I had just spent the extra $20 to begin with I would not be looking at redoing the whole thing again now.
Look around for other speakers before you buy the Infinities, there are much better for the same price, do not go to Future shop or Best buy. Find a local shop in the vendors section on here and see what they can do.
Forget about the Dynamat kits, too expensive. Again look in the for sale threads here and see what you can find, I picked up B-quiet for about half the retail cost. People seem to buy alot more of this than they need and end up selling the rest.

This is what I would do, as well as alot of others on here I think. Consider everything and don't be afraid to ask questions, here and at the stores. Maybe take a Saturday and line up a few shops to go and listen to different speakers. Just take your own CD with something you know very well and what you mostly listen to and see how they sound to your ears. After you have a few choices see if anyone on here is using them and see if you can hear them in a car. Sorry for the long post I'm done for now LOL

You still have options to consider here, I as a Infinity dealer would never recommend those speakers to my customers, they are just plain horrible to my ears as well. Come up with a budget for what you would like to do or come up with a future game plan, one that you can attack a step at a time if you have to. It is better to do it once and do it right as compared to buying all the wrong stuff just to have a system and not be happy 3 months down the road.

This is one of those things you will have to determine for yourself....nobody else has your ears and they will hear different things from you.

I always tell new guys the same thing.....take a CD you know well out on a cruise thru several stores and listen to it on as many different speakers as you can. The big boxes will not really care how long you spend doing this, if it's possible, get a sales rep to confirm the loudness is off and any kind of EQing are as neutral as possible will make it easier to do an A/B comparison.

I would start with a budget, if you tell each store how much you are prepared to spend, they will have at least one example from each of the brands they carry in your price range for you to listen to. The economy being what it is these days you may also be offered something a little better for your bucks.

Good luck with this part of your system.....getting the right speakers is probably the trickiest part of it.....

After reading some of the earliest posts, I decided to buy 4ga and exchange it with my 8ga and this guy at store offered me a Zero Gauge wire for $69.99 which was a lot cheaper then 4 Guage wire and He explained the same thing you said. I decided to buy Zero Guage instead of 4 Guage. All this time I was thinking if it was a smart decision. I belive it was a smart decision and I think I got a pretty good deal on it as well. He said regular price for zero ga is $130.00 but I got it for only $69.99
