Home Audio - Replacement Sub Suggestions
Hi all,
I had bought an Adire Audio Tempest from the classified section here probably 2 or 3 years ago with the idea of putting into my home theater. I finally got around to purchasing a BASH 500W plate amp from creativesoundsoltuions and built a box for it. The box is quite large at 20"x24"x41" external (~7.7ft^3 net). It is on 4" legs so the sub and port are firing down into the ground. I have approximately 50 in^2 of port area turned to right around 19Hz.
Well shortly after I got it set up and saw it working I decided to crank the volume with ~ 1/2 gain on the amp... needless to say that was not a good idea and after a large burp it was clear I had already blown the sub. A mistake I will obviously not do again.
So I am wondering if it is possible to recone these subs? I'm assuming not since Adire is out of business and they no longer make the tempest. If not, does anyone have a suggestion for a subwoofer that would work in this home audio application, possibly with a higher power rating, and not too steep of a price tag? Any thoguhts/suggestions are welcome.
Thanks!
