Man, I dont think there is any easy way to hack through thick cable like that. Heavy duty wire cutters would be your best bet. I installed some 2awg, used massive bolt/wire cutters to make a good dent in it,and finished it off with smaller wire cutters

A knife. It's very easy. ! guiding slice to start, then just keep making progressive slices into the open gash.

It's a lot like slicing off someones finger, but made much easier by the lack of bone.

I used a giant *ss pruning shears to cut it, and it went through it like butter.
