How to get into the mobile electronics field?
#1
Hey looking to do a career change into the mobile electronics field. I love doing stereos, alarms, and want to get into a shop, but most places want experience but how do you get experience when nobody wants to give you a chance. I talked to somebody that went to Mobile Dynamics and I am not too sure if it is worth the money to go. The big thing is their "career assistance" apparently it is just a list, that's it, no other assistance. The person is no longer in the field because he could not find a job in the field, and he feels he wasted his money. But I know that is only case. Any suggestions on how to break into the field? Thanks.

get an education in a field other than this one, persue that career and only try to get into this one after that one fails. unless you are independently wealthy. dont get into this industry to get rich, do it beacause you love it, if you love it by all means get into it by whatever means possilbe, but dont do it for the paycheck

But I have herd it was good a while ago, now its gone down hill? I dont know I still think it would be good for me to take it... Any other places around that do the same kinda education??? THanks..

I will have to second the notion that you will not make a fortune in car audio... in fact most of us in the industry get into it because we love music and/or the gear. From what I know Mobile Dynamics training = a job in the industry. In BC I know dealers who are always in Search of an installer. Doing Mobile Dynamics and then getting a job in a shop (and learning about trouble shooting and alarms) is a good way to advance... another growing field is custom home installs. If you want to try this industry go for it... you'll never know if you don't try.

Mobile dynamics is extremely expensive I think like 5700 for the full program. Its pretty much guaranteed that you can get a job and FS or bestbuy with that they always seems to be looking for installers if you want to work there i am not sure, they don't really do extensive installs at most of them

maybe most of them in Toronto, I know in the west most shops have at least one installer that can do pretty much any custom work. In my opinion starting at FS is one of the best ways to go, you will work on way more of a variety of cars than anywhere else, and they still do custom. BB does not do any custom but you will still work on a large variety of cars.
