How much power can a stock alternator put out?

I'm currently running an Infinty 7541 amp powering my front speakers. I would also like to get an Hifonics 1206D mono amp to power set of 800 WRMS subs. The infinity is pulling 60 amps of current while the Hifonics needs 80. Combined this is 140 amps of current but my stock alternator only puts out 120. Will this be too much for my alternator to handle?

a 200 A alternator should do the trick

Your a moron, I'm sorry but there is no other way to say it.

The ONLY way you are drawing the full 140a is if your gain is full, volume is full, and all dials are full. Also, the amperage of the alternator means all because the power is drawn off the battery not the alternator. Bigger alternator will recharge the battery faster but its not like having a 80a alternator will kill your car, thats not possible.

If you're a moron please don't give advice.

Then why would guys have bigger alts in big stereos?

Maybe to charge the battery faster since they depleted it?

Dude get a bigger alt. Don't be a dillhole and buy caps like some.

Consider if your car is all power electronics its gonna suck power there too, Also we're in Canada, Its the winter. You need a heater, and theres ALOT more night driving as its dark now after work house. so lights take power too Also, fuel pump, Ignition to get power to make spark.

Then add the stereo on top off that

I'd buy the 200 a 200 amp one. A car manufacture would not put a 120 amp alt in the car if it did not need somewhere near that using all electrical. It adds to the cost of manufacturing and after say X million of cars produced they'd save shat loads of bank if they didn't need that 120 and put them on anyhow.

Aswell as where youre alternator cant keep up your battery does the rest. Do you think guys who burp with 400 = amps of draw rely on their alternator? No youre battery helps you out big time at higher volumes, thenn inturn youre alternator racharges the battery.

Price varies company to company and size.

My powermaster in current vehicle and last vehicle, being 140 amps were 200 each.

the 200 amp ones like 500. Think ill be grabbing one real soon.

Edit :theres people on here that make ones too.

So your saying if after I start my car and pull out the battery that my stereo will stop working or my car won't run because power is drawn off the battery....maybe the battery charges the alt?

Power flows from the source with the highest potential.....the alternator. If you exceed the current the alternator can supply, the next source with the highest potential would then be the battery.....

This is kinda funny but its how it all works.

http://www.bcae1.com/charging.htm

the formula is Amps = Watts / Volts

Lawl. someone owe someone else an apology?
