How should I build this box for the Type R?
I'm a little stuck on box building for my new 12' Type R Dual 2 Ohm. I'm running a JBL 600.1 and I'm looking to build a ported box for it.
Alpine doesn't have any of their recommended specs for boxes on their website anymore.. so I'm wondering if anyone still remembers it. Crutchfield recommends a 1.25 cubic box with a 4 inch by 13 inch pipe vent. Does anyone what that'll tune to approximately? Also.. what's the recommended freq to tune one 12' Type R to?

Hey, help my friend out.. i went to buy this sub with him...
Type r dual 2 ohm version ... the manual only shows the recommendations for a sealed enclosure ..
looking for a ported sized box that will give a nice everyday driving sound!!

I like a smaller box (1.5 ft^3 net volume) tuned low (25-30 Hz) with the Type-Rs ... (4" port, 22" long for 30 Hz, 4" port, 33" long for 25 Hz)
That being said, watch the gains ... That's a lot of power for a Type-R in a ported enclosure ... And I very highly recommend against bass tests under these conditions ...

Recommended Vented Box Volume: The vented box sizes recommended by Alpine range from 0.75 cu/ft to 1.75 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by Alpine is 1.25 cu/ft, so this is the enclosure recommended by Crutchfield. One 4" diameter x 13" long port should be used with the 1.25 cu/ft enclosure.
crutchfield says their specs on the ported box came from alpine, so either trust them. Or pick up the phone and call up alpine. They'll tell ya the dillio.
i know my box's are like 1.2cu ft after port n sub with probably a 3x7" port or so...no idea what it's tuned to, but it sounds alright.
