I need help choosing a setup...

K basically I own a 2003 jetta GLI, I am planning to use the stock deck which is Monsoon, now Ive been at flea market, the setup that they offered to me was 2X12" competition subs, 4x6.5" speakers(I think it was competition too) and 4 tweeters, 3xAmps, 1 for each sub, and 1 for internal speakers, the price was 1700$... I dont know the brand tho... Now my question is, mayb for that price some one can recommend something in the competition audio too...
PS: Im a noob at car audio so any help is appreciated... I live in Toronto, mayb any shops around the area that sell's speakers and instalation etc...

Do not spend 1700.00 at a flea market...seriously, you'd think about spending that kind of coin at a place where you don't know if the guy will be back the next week, or is selling stolen goods. look at the top of this page in the red bars...3rd one in says"site vendors" call or go see a few of them. For 1700.00, they'll set you up!!

selective sound is in mississauga, Audio heaven is in richmond hill, and a little further out is perfect tones in Milton. Also, you can try Ultra autosound in Mississauga, auto sound design in markham and Toronto(steeles/bathurst), those two I've used before with good service. As far as brands, get good brand name products that have proven themselves over the years. Alpine, Eclipse, Kenwood, Pioneer, Infinity, JBL, Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, Nakamichi, Polk audio, etc...The list is long and there are many others that are less known to the general public, but can offer at least as good or to some, even better performance. Some of those include; Digital Designs, RE, Tru, Arc audio, Zapco, just to name a few. At your level, you really need to see a professional, trust me it'll save you a fortune and you'll get expected results.

Im thinking about going to Selective Sound, but to me their product line seems too narrow, or will I be able to get what I want at the shop? Once again sorry for the ridiculious questions, I just know nothing about car audio, I know what I want it to sound like, but thats about as far as it goes...

im by no means into compatitions or anything but i recomend for midrange getting infinity kappa component mid range speakers (make sure its the kappa series) and the infinity 7541a amp, im very impressed with the sound, u can get a lot of clear bass out of the the infinity components.

^^I have those kappas, 60.7 components, and I have to agree...very good with all types of music, and I listen to everything...michael Buble to snoop dog, scorpions to Andrea Bocelli. They play loud and very cleanly, and the fact that they're 2 ohm is nice, double the power from most amps.
