"Sponsored" meant a discount on product.....IIRC it was 15% or so. Also, all the accessories (wires, caps, blocks, fuses, 2nd battery, etc.) were all Streetwires.

Also, a custom 140 amp alternator was made and the isolator was hidden under the battery tray.

The system also had a keypad mounted in the second console. You had to punch in a 4 digit code to turn the system on.

Wonder if he would let me do an SQ install on it

1. They were cool.
2. Larger 2door coupe makes for decent seat placement and nice wide speaker locations.
3. Decent kickpanel space, a shallow dash, and a minimal center console (or no console at all in Regals with split bench) are all positives for SQ.
4. Decent trunk space. The area behind the seat not so much but enough for IB 12s or 15s or a sealed box for 12s or 10s. The floor of the trunk is huge though which makes for a great amp rack display.
5. Quiet and plush interior straight from the factory.
6. They were cool.

And frankly, after Speakerworks/Richard Clark beat everything in sight with one, people figured the car was the hot ticket.
