I didn't say it shouldn't be protected the whole way... I said that the RULES say that it only has to be protected where it passes through sheet metal.

I lost points for not having pictures of the screws I used to fasten my mids to the door, and not having pics of my deck, and not having pics of myself naked for the gay judges to **** over.

Funny you mention that item about protecting the power wire. My power wire is in fact protected in it's entire run, with split loom. Where it passes through the fire wall, the split loom doesn't stop, it's continuous. Yet once, maybe twice, I got dinged for not having a grommet. The rule says "grommet or other means of protection". I had that other means. I mention that specific rule and how I am satisfying it and have no problem with that anymore.

I have all my under-carpet wiring protected actually. Secured it to the floor continuously to throughout it's length. All of the speaker wiring, RCA cables, power/ground/remote on for the deck and main power wire is protected and neatly laid out on the floor.

It does state it in the rulebook, I cannot quote the pg number, but I did get the highest install score in IASCA this season at finals in my class. Uderdog is right, I give the judges zero reason to use their own heads...do the wiring so perfect, they can not deduct points! Install points are free points, it tells you how to get a perfect score. SQ scores....well that's another thread.
