*Installing New Infinity 6x9's

(Original Question) I'm going to replace my stock 6x9's with some new ones (most likely Infinity 9612I) and I was just wondering whether I should just drop them in as is, or if I should put 'em in sealed boxes first? I don't have a sub right now, I might not get one for a bit because my trunk leaks at the moment.

^(I'm probably going to just mount them for now, and seal them when I get subs.)

So I was thinking of running my 6x9's off an amp, what rating of amp should I use? (The Infinity 9612I are 100WRMS and 300W peak.)

Also, what do people think of the Infinity's? I know it's all a matter of opinion, but just in general.

you will probably get more(boomier) bass using the trunk as an infinite baffle, so given the fact that you don't have a sub, it might work out better to do that.

That's what I thought. My trunk is pretty good acoustically for the 6x9's to produce decent bass, and I figured the boxes would just add to that.

remember the boxes are going to be way smaller than the trunk, so you won't get that low boom sound, it should be tighter though. I would box them after you put the sub in, that way you'll get nice midbass, and the subs pressure won't interfere with them.

I definitely back up the idea of boxing them once you get a sub. I installed a sub in my old corolla the pressure from the sub actually began to move the 6x9. I pulled them out and had instant bass ports... Loud is good lol.
