Interconnects/Deck: The Relationship
I always see people/companies hyping the latest and greatest in interconnect techology.
However many decks have pig tails on the back which feed the signal to the RCAs. If these tails are of lower quality, which I have to beleive is true, then the RCA cables used; what would be the point in using a top of the line RCA? The weak link would be the cheesy quality of the pigtail.
Can any one shed light on this? Maybe due to the length of the tail it doesn't matter?

Copper is copper...............thickness and or how you wrap it or what color it is doesn't matter......................
It's mainly to do with lenght. From your headunit to your trunk you can pick up noise and interference without propper shielding. Also high end interconnects are specially wound to optimize varying magnetic fields as they travel through the cable. Over a distance you can loose out on tonal balance, dynamic range, and pick up noise.
