or it's a smart tactic to gain evidence for the legal proceedings that might be going on....

BTW.. I will also state that these pictures did NOT come from Oynx or anyone directly related to the car audio industry.

My thoughts were that it was someone harboring a grudge for some unknown reason. That is what I meant by a malicious act.
Realistically if RE would have stuck with thier agreement and done what they were supposed to do, and removed the labels, There wouldn't be any pictures. I'm sorry but there is noone to blame except RE for this one. I really think that it is pointless for RE to blame this on anyone but themselves. If I do something at my work that isn't proper or not obey the rules, if it gets brought to someone's attention it's still my fault for doing that, why should this be any other way.

Or maybe someone got curious one day?? I mean curiousity is how people get louder and try new things.. if everyone stuck with the norm then the world would suck so to speak

The fact that it keeps being dug up after a year has passed is one of the things that I find most interesting.
These are brand new pictures.

Why is there anyone to blame? In order for anyone to see that logo the subwoofer had to be damaged. It takes some force to knock those rings off.

I haven't seen RE blame anyone. They have quietly accepted the fact that this has been exposed.

As for someone getting curious it is the nature of those photos that made me suspicious. Whoever disassembled the sub made a pretty clean cut around the cone, looks like they have done it a few times before, they took the terminals off, knocked off the trim ring from the back plate, and then removed the motor. Then they laid all of it out on their industrial grade carpet for photos. Which likely means the photos were taken in a retail/commercial/industrial space. You don't see that grade of carpet in too many homes.

I was actually thinking that it was likely someone from another company, possibly a small one who might benefit from negative exposure to one or both of these companies. Perhaps it is just someone curious, but I don't believe it. There is no potential gain from cutting apart your own subwoofer. Now if your involved in the industry in some way or thinking about getting started, and your checking out other peoples products then it would make sense to dismantle some products and take a look at them to garner information. Reverse engineering is the proper term for that.

Wrap up the mystery for us, where did the photos come from. Who dismantled the sub and who took the photos, and for what purpose. If it is an individual with no affiliation to anyone then there will certainly be one if not two companies jumping all over the opportunity to make this guy a satisfied customer. Remaining annonymous would only support my suspicions, though anyone could come forward and claim to have been "the one"

Just to help us along with the reply count and moving toward page 13, I will say after reading this thread, I disassembled my XXX 15 and both of my Tumults last night just to see if any of the parts were labeled the same. . .

Can anyone help me get them back together or know where I can get them reconed?

$1350 worth of drivers gone just because I have been reading this thread for three days!!!!

Ok, you're smart. The drivers "affected" were the lower end ones like the HC, not XXX.
Congratulations, btw.

Edit: Umm, from the pic, it just looks like the black back plate looks like it can be removed from the back without removing the cone and motor. The cone was probably taken out for the helluvit. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I see.

I hope you are joking, because I think it's apparent from the lead photos at the very beginning of this thread that the logo is revealed by removing that black disk glued to the back of the magnet, nothing being discussed here was accessed by any sort of deconing or other disassembly!
