well i bought this headunit in january and it might have as much as 30hours of use

i bought it for it's usb ability with a decent menu structure

the problem i have is that it is always flashing "USB Error" in the upper right hand of the display, regardless of the presence of any usb device
obviously it also does the same with a usb drive plugged in, thus making the headunit pretty useless

has anyone else had a similar problem with this line of kenwoods?

i should have bought another alpine, but they're stuck in 1996 pretending mp3's are a new thing

Sounds like a dud. Warranty?

I also have had problems with usb sticks not working with different brand head units. But it doesn't sound like that the way you explained it....
