I dropped an 18 into that space once. It sounded decent but was underpowered.
I have not really heard anyone raving about how much they like their TB 8. I used an RE8 for a while and it was wicked. I'd look for a pair of those.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, I was just running some numbers for the TB 8". Anyone know if this sounds like a decent design? .9 cubic feet, tuned to 35hz? Here are the T/S parameters: http://www.tb-speaker.com/detail/1208_03/w8-740c.asp
The Vent Velocity peaks at around 13.5 m/s at 32hz, shouldn't be noisy, that is with a slot port, 4" high, 2" wide, and 14.9" long. Anyone else have some input? Thanks!!

I wasn't impressed with the TB 8 I reviewed... My choice... anything else...
Or, as has been suggested time and time again in similar discussions, go with a basic 10-inch sub in the same size or smaller enclosure, should work fine and offer a lot more efficiency with the same amount of power.
You can get an entry level Kenwood, Clarion, Pioneer or Alpine for well under $100... and have an easy to deal with waranty.
