I don't see a problem with it ................they don't say the other products are bad.........just that they feel theirs are better
to me there's a big difference between that and saying the other guy's stuff is crap so you should buy thiers.............
you see that kind of advertising all the time in car, atv & snomobile ads to name a few

I don't think they are really talking trash at least about the W7. They are pointing out that the W7 is the standard against which superwoofers should be compared and then comparing their specs side by side. I see no problem with that because what will JL do now? They will make the W7 even better, that's what. Then everyone else will make theirs better and so on.
As for the Rockford comparison, someone has to start calling bull**** on these outrageous numbers printed on amplifiers, thank god MTX has stepped up to the plate!

ALL right.... that is the biggest load of crap I've ever heard!!!! What sounds better? I wonder why that wasn't mentioned?, why wasn't a side by side spl comparasin done? Hands down you would be stupid to take an MTX over a W7

Not to sound conceided but I think the W7 was the first real SQ Superwoofer. It set the standard in the industry (everyone is comparing their product to W7, not RF, Pioneer not MTX).
strokers were the first superwoofer, and i believe one of the best still. i sold JL, Phoenix, Alpine, MTX, Concept, Vega.......basically damn near everything. the one thing i've learned is not to get defensive about the stuff you sell, cause some of the best advertising you can get is "negative" advertising. In both 'comparisons' MTX makes basic empirical comparisons (our Xmax is this much more) or visual ones (our FET is bigger).
In both comparisons they do not make any claims of superior performance from the MTX product due to those comparisons/observations. In fact all you people that are pissed off are the ones that made the assumptions!
Sure the things they say may lead the easily impressionable to make certain basic assumptions but all they really offer is an opinion that they feel their product a better value - and doesn't every manufacturer do that?
Before you flame: I own neither brand of product and have no real plans on owning either brand either. I just like to see people get all wrapped up in a marketing ploy.

I think it's funny that the heinously overpriced W7 is put in it's place by a cheaper product.
If MTX keep doing this, prices may drop to match more closely the amount of money that goes INTO the subs. I mean c'mon, selling a sub that costs $50 to make for $600 is a bit of an overkill.

For years and years, Kenwood, Pioneer etc. have been using the lighting strike theory of amplifier rating. Spike the amp will a huge spike the voltage and measure the output for a split second. RF and US manufacturers are just trying to level the field...in retail you always get that goof who says his 1000 watt MEI, is better than the RF or whatever. The truth is listen to it...
honestly though, the 9500 isnt even in the same league as the w7. Im doubting that the 9500 was built to be a full on sq driver like the w7 was (and is). Im with dave S on this one. People need to stop bashing the w7 because of its price, size, whatever it may be, and actually go listen to one, and realize why it costs what it does.
