MDF Speaker Rings

Hey Everyone,

First post here.. excited to have found such a nice resource as this for local enthusiasts.

I need some spacer rings in order to fit my 6.5" speakers into my front doors. I have a few options here and one is to buy them on eBay (item #160472284708) for $11 and pay $25 to have them shipped, and then wait for shipping. Or I can make them myself (preferred).

I only have two concerns with making them myself. One being I cant seem to find 1" MDF anywhere. 3/4 and 1/2 are very common. It was suggested that I use 1.25" MDF so funny enough, 1/2 + 3/4 = 1.25.

What I'm asking is if anyone knows where to find 1" MDF local to the GTA, or if I glue or screw two rings together, to make a thicker ring, will I have a problem with resonance/vibrations?

Thanks in advance
