Mounting fans on amps... Ideas?
Mounting fans on amps... Ideas?
Anyone with real world experience have any suggestions on how to mount a large fan on top of an amp?
Hoping to find a fan similar to the small computer fans but about 6" or more to mount.
Should it be on top of the amp, or beside blowing air across it?
Does it work better blowing towards or away from the amp if it's on top?
Anyone who has done this themselves, please put in your two cents.
Thanks.

Here are some pics of my amp rack. I'm using 6 cumputer fans. As you can see, they are mounted under the amp. Works perfectly!
Sorry, I can't figure out how to post my pics. I'll try again.

I have mounted fans a couple times, and it depends how ghetto you want to be.
On one install in the back of my friends truck, I used plumbers strap... that perforated metal that some people use to secure the back of their deck in the dash.
It looked like crap, but it worked.
You can use thin aluminum bar from home depot to make a nicer frame, just bend it so that it mounts the fans about 1/4" above the fins of the amp, kinda like a bridge.
I always place the fan blowing down onto the top center of the amp, unless it is in an enclosed amp rack, then I will make it blow through for the wind tunnel effect.
I need to mount fans on my amps this weekend, if I actually get off my *** and do it, Ill post some pics.

Since my setup isn't one for show, it worked out real nice and not as bad as i thought it would look.
Cheap too. $4.19 for 25 feet of this stuff at Home Depot. The 4" aluminum bar was about $10 and not as easy to work with.
