Great point, it is just that point that has set my stores apart from the competition. A higher level of service and knowledge, a better selection of available products and when bought properly, pricing is no longer an issue. When the small indipendent can do this, he can compete with any big box retailer.

mike i agree with you and i am fully aware of it but as i said alot of people will shop on price
i've seen it on forums
most people there usually buy via the internet or big box stores
due to price
me i do find i take care of my customers how i would like to be taken care of
and due to it being a small town i do rather well
im just bringing up points
and when talking to ther retailers i rarely find one that disagrees

and derek the backdoor deals are done by the maunfactures so that they can do there 1/4 year quota
you see the japanese companys want to see certain sales no matter what the cost
so they are forced to do stupid deals to select people in order to reach the goals set by there head office
and if your not doing the numbers your *** is grass

Backdoor deals are when a store sells to some person at cost now that person opens a " Online Shop " and you know there are alot of them out there.

Is this what you mean by a backdoor deal?

no the people who are doing the back door deals are sony jvc kenwood clarion and so on
there canadian headquarters have targets set by there head office in japan
these companys offer large quanitys of product to certain people to make there targets
there are a couple big rollers in toronto who warehouse product then sell it to certain people who then sell it to anybody with money
including pawn shops and so on
the prices they pay for this product is substantually lower than what i and authorized dealer gets it for
and i know fs and bb get the same deals
beside fs and bb im not mentioning any other names
the reason i refer to it as a backdoor deal is that the product is literally given
and is a taboo subject as in nobody will say its happening

It's the same old story...money talks and walks.
I don't buy into your tale that consumers are only looking for the lowest price point. I shop in many different stores, and of course I am looking for deals because money doesn't grow on trees...local shops wouldn't exist unless they were able to draw in business, every local shop I know of has THEIR own niche. Most of the local shops I go to have items that I can't get from the "bigbox" stores and as for customer service I only have one rule...If I walk in and am ignored I will go to your direct competition, regardless of sales.

threads like this one show us how important the little guy is, while price is important to a point, i would much rather shop somewhere with friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful salesmen, than a big box store. i know i Will definitely be going back to the shop i was at the other day when i need anything
