is my amp blown

I have a 5 year old kicker 4 channel amp that i think has the left front channel blown. There is a static sound coming from the left speaker even though i disconnect audio in (rca jacks) to the amp from my deck.

Does this point to the amp being blown? i would hope it is instead of trying to troubleshoot wiring problem going to speaker.
thanks

At a minimum you will have to reverse the speaker connections for the front pair of channels to figure it out.....it's only four screws.......

No point in buying a new amp until you check it out, unless you really want to buy one anyway......which I understand perfectly.....

You're welcome.....

Depending where you are located there may be someone handy who can fix that Kicker for you....in Toronto there is a board vendor called S&S Electronics that has done a lot of repairs for members here.

Failing that, I put one of these in my buddy's Freestyle the other day. It is running 2 sets of these components and doing a great job.......loud, very clean and the amp is so tiny it practically disappears under the front seat.

Power rating is 120W X 4 @ 4ohms....more than enough to keep up with some serious subs.....

There are many other choices from other manufacturers, having heard this one in a few different installs I have to suggest it for you as a replacement for the Kicker.
