180 dB's...that's funny! If hitting anything close to that was easy, every spl guy out there would have done it by now. The fact that the world record is 180.3 is testament that it is a monumental challenge if nothing else. Think about it, you have dozens of manufacturer's teams and independant car audio shops with virtually any equipment available, and a lot of money to throw at it, and the highest spl achieved is 180.3 (I think by the Pioneer team). When you get into the stratospheric levels of spl, it becomes more than the number of watts and drivers to achieve those levels. I'm not an spl guy, but I have seen enough spl vehicles to know that it takes a lot of skill, testing, preparation, and patience to get even incremental advances in output. Anyway, good luck!!

Have fun doing it....if you're doing a party vehicle all those speakers will help project sound for miles down the beach.....bit of a waste while you're driving there and back with the trunk closed, but hey, it's all about fun, right?.....

For the record tho, if a dedicated SPL vehicle has that much trouble getting over 175db, I wouldn't get too upset if the party wagon doesn't even get close. Besides, as long as it's loud enough to dance to, the party crowd won't care what number you're hitting.....

You can stop and get on a bus that is travelling a little slower, take the time to learn. More and bigger does not mean better or louder. If you want to throw cash at it, that's great, just do it properly. There is a crapload of work behind building a car to hit even 160db, so much trial and error that it consumes you. If you want a one note wonder that sounds like a wet fart, build your db monster in all it's glory as that's all it will be capable of doing once you are 150+ db or so (give or take). The ladies don't want to hear a wet fart, they want to hear music, and that type of system is radically different in design and construction as compared to one that is designed to go loud. Start from scratch, throw out what you think you know and start over. You can like what you like, no issues with that, but if you have a goal in mind and what you like is not the best choice to reach that goal, consider alternatives.

Yep really, it's all about install.

I have one 12 inch sub. Yep, just one. In a bigass cargo van. I hand it 1650w @ 2 ohms daily. For SPL competition, I bridge my amps so they're doing 2400w @ 1 ohm.

146.6 is the best I've hit so far. That's over 2 Db louder than the guy in the Bronco at the Castlegar show, he was running four Soundtream 12's and something like 4000 watts or so. Yes, my van killed his.

Install. I can put my sub on the rear seat, facing the window, or standing in the back, or anywhere... but the loudest place for my sub to be is facing up, right at the rear doors. Then it shoots through the whole van, using the van's resonance to increase all the more.

Change one thing, and it usually gets quieter. But once in a while I do something that'll give me an extra tenth or two, and so then I try to experiment more with whatever that was.

So ya, a multitude of speakers isn't the answer. Go to some competitions, you don't have to compete just go as a spectator even, and pay attention, ask questions, learn.

Then you'll figure out how to spank those multi Soundtream setups

Anyways.

2x15" Soundstream XXX 8,500RMS @1Ohm
and 2x10,000RMS @1ohm Amps your telling me i wont be able to hit what i want????

This is my favorvite quote. Go big or go home..
You probably won't even break 150....

You never mentioned an upgraded battery or alternator, so those amps won't put out anything close to that power.

Plus... where the hell are you getting a 10,000w RMS amp from?

In any case... you obviously have no idea how hard it is to break 160, let alone breaking 180.

Already change the alternator to a 200 amps. No way my stock 75 will do that its dead on the first bass note.:P it was custom made for my car from Texas. The batterys are just 2 yellow caps. I dont know if i need more but proably.

Ooh i have the power i think.... the dudes that i talked to said i should be running 2 more alternators. and there going to look into maknig a bracket for my car for it to hold more so ill see on that one.
