Budget? Used? New?

I took a trip to urban audio video on Argyll on Friday while my car was getting an oil change. Those guys don't know Sh*t, don't bother with them.

Let me know what you're looking for and what you can spend. I might be able to help you out and I know the guys at Audio Obsession in Sherwood Park really well. Are they 2 ohm's each? Single voice coil or dual?

There's a guy here in the classified that has a t3-1000d for same that's brand new in the box for cheap. Lots of power. Smartass sells them new I believe as well. People seem to be having decent results with them.

I'm still not sure what the absolute final load you're going to be running is. I might have something special in the "old school" realm that would beat the sh*t out of those subs in my garage. Very renowned stuff. Especially if each sub can be 2 ohm and you can run a 1 ohm load to the amp.

If you have 2 4ohm subs wired for a 2ohm load, you need an amp that will work properly at that load value. The Ultimate amp mentioned above is a good match for your subs, as are most good quality 'D' class subwoofer amps rated for the same power range. You will have to spend more than your budget for 1KW of new power, but if you can find a trustworthy source for a used one, you should do well.

This is another issue that happens when one purchases without doing adequate research. Slow down and take your time dude. In the future, always post model #'s of the equipment so that people do not have to guess or keep asking redundant questions.

Amps that are decent are not overpriced at all, it is a case of you get what you pay for. If your budget does not allow for the kind of power that you want and or need for those subs, perhaps the choice of sub was wrong....

Good bass response is a careful match of sub to amp to box, screw up on one part of that equation and you will be guaranteed to be dissappointed with even the best of equipment.

see all i really want to know is how many watt amp RMS im gonna need for those subs to run properly, just basic setup,i just wanna install this ASAP,its pretty simple they are 500RMS dual coil, both 2ohm, so would a 1000watt rms amp @ 2 ohm ,be fine???

just a simple question, looking for a simple answer.

But what MR2NR is saying is its not a simple question if all the info is not there. You say they are dual coil now, thats the first time you mentioned that. And is each coil 2ohms or 4 ohms. Because you say they are dual coil 2 ohms??? So is that the final load of each driver? Or each coil load? A model number would be great so you can tell you what to look for in an amp.

I think he's got Alpine SWR-1222D subs. I would recommend JL 1000/1 or Alpine PDX 1.1000 but that would be way out of your budget. But someone above mentioned correctly that if you don't want to spend some cash on quality power for those subs then maybe run just one or choose some other drivers. I ran 1 older style 10" Type R at one point and it pounded hard. 2 12s would be quite a lot of bass, properly amped and enclosed of course
