Hi guys, thanx in advance for your help, as im a noob and i dont know what to do.
Background:
Hu: Alpine CDA 9815
Amp: MTX 6001D
Subs: 2x 10inch RF P210S4

Running the front and rear off the deck They are infiniti 6000cs in the front and 6002i in the back.

Know most of these things arent the greatest, but its good enough for me atm.

Ok heres the prob, turn up the volume, bass hits, turns the stereo off. Deck, amp etc. Then comes back on, and i have to turn down the vol asap or it keeps shutting off.

Car is a 95 civic SI. I need to replace the battery anyway, so is that one of the issues? Stock Charging system not up to snuff? Help guys.

Also thiking of taking out the 2 10s and puttin in 1 12. Takes up too much space in the trunk. Any suggestions for subs matched to the amp? Looking more for SQ, but not really picky.

check all your grounds and wiring. what size power wire you runnin? its hard to say without some more details.

i looked your amp up on the mtx site. check out the amp/speaker match up section. it says your amp runs 600 into 2 ohm load, so you could run one 12 with that power output but you might loose a little bass (i`m currently on a sub search between 2 small 12`s and 1 big 12 to say which is more suited to my needs), i`m not speaking from personal experience with that statement just from what some experts have told me.

Amp was wired at futureshop with the 600 watt amp kit as well. Its 8 guage wire.

Dont know if i mention but it only happens when the bass is hittin hard. Certain songs with less bas im able to crank it louder. I listen to all sorts of music, but mainly trance, r&b hip hop ,some alternative...

Yea i dont mind if the bass isnt as deep as it would be with 2 10's. Its more of a space factor, when going camping etc, not much space left in there. The birth sheet for the amp said 712.

well, just the statement wired at future shop could explain a great many things. if the install was recent, take it back to them, if not start from scratch. check your grounds and connections on your wires and make sure everthing is tight. if i were you i would upgrade to 4 ga wire. if it shuts down during a bass riff, your amp isn`t getting the power it desires. there are lots of help about amp wiring on the net if your new to this, but the best way to learn is get your hands dirty. check your fuse holder from your battery as well to make sure the wire are secure into the holder itself. i had a similar like this a few years back and the culprit was a loose power wire.

yes your right, perhaps i`ve derived prejudice from other previous forums about nightmare installs from those types of retailers. i`m sure that there are many competent installers working there but i would never take my vehicle to future shop, sorry.

^tsk tsk tsk. Bashin FS and making false claims to boot!
The truth is, if the amp isn't getting the power it needs then ONLY it would turn off, but not the deck. If the deck is turning off then the problem is you have to much voltage drop on your electrical system. Get a cap and a high output battery (exide or optima). And yes, 4ga is a good idea.

Probably need to upgrade the main power wire to the deck....Honda's stock constant lead is designed to run a clock..... a 10 or 12 ga , fused to the main Ign switch supply line and a good chassis ground should solve it.

I'd also run 4 ga to the amp, and get rid of that glass AGU fuseholder and get an ANL type...no need for a cap... just do the Big Three.

Lot's of good choices for subs...a single IDQ12 v2D4 will work in a relatively small ported box, and goes very low. You have lots of power, so sealed might be better for space.

What levels are your x-overs at?

If they are at the default 0db levels then they are too high.

Alpines 0db is real world +6, -6db is real world 0db and -12db is real world -6db. Make sense? Adjust the front x-over to -3 or -4 and adjust the rear x-over to -5 or -6.

Upgrading the HU power wire and ground to 10 or 12awg direct to the battery will also help.
Don't forget to properly fuse that direct lead with 18" of the battery.
