Need help picking the right amp
#1
I have 2 12.1 Infinity Perfect subs, single voice coil, they are rated 350w rms each with 1400 watts peak. The impedance is 4 ohms. My question is how much rms wattage should I be looking for to power both of them. 350 or somewhere in the 700 rms area? Also if someone could answer how amps have different ratings, such as 500w @ 4ohms or 750w @ 2 ohms. How do they get from 4 ohms to 2 ohms on a mono amp. Thanks in advance.

500 to 700 watts RMS at a 2 ohm load would be a good match and affordable. You can always use an amp with more power and just turn the gains down but this will cost you more money.
Look for a mono amp that is 2 ohm stable or a stereo amp that is 2 ohm stable bridged.
In general a sealed box will need more power to sound as loud as a ported box.....this may be something to consider when choosing an amp.
