picking the right amp!
#1
so i have two 12" type R subs both rated at 300 W rms with dual voice coils at 4 ohms.
so i'll wire them into two ohms. What amp specs do i need? just an amp that does 300W rms... or double that for the two subs in parallel?
thanks
you guys are always a lot of help

you will wire them both down to 1 ohm, so you will need an amp that is 1 ohm stable. 300 RMS each, if i were you id look for amp that does 800 RMS or so at 1 ohm, just so you have some headroom and only need to turn your gains up to 3/4 or so.
another option you have i believe is wiring the total load to 4 ohms, in which case you could look for a 2 channel amp that puts out around that much power as well.
