Need help with sound system setup

you first off need to know the difference between MAX power and RMS power. the Max number is BS for marketing, so throw that number away.
RMS is pretty much what you are working with, but thats with the gains at 100%, and on crappy amps, is still a lie. you will NEVER have your amp at 100% gain.
i go by a rule of $1/watt. I know that these days you buy a class D amp and pay about $.50/watt to $.75/watt. anything less than that and its junk.
I suggest waiting to save up more money and get what you will be happy with.
what caused you to choose the orion sub?

I got the sub for free basicaly and put it in a ported box, and i also have a 12in kenwood kfc-w3011 in a sealed box and the orion is a little louder and hits harder, im not sure if its wired to 2 ohms and thats why but either way with the boss amp it hits hard and will move my mirror, but like 100 ft away you can barely hear it is hitting so i want to give it the 500watts rms it can take. But why are none of those amps basicaly what im wanting they cant all be way under rated in rms can they? I dont care much for brand name just decent quality and good performance as i have like $130 to spend on a amp on ebay used or new.

its ok to avoid major brands, but dont do it by getting junk. there are good brands out there, but they cost money.
i hate to say it, but why do you care how much of your music is heard by OTHER people? IMO this is your car. Sorry to go off topic, but what makes you think people want to hear your music?
it angers me because when I say im into car audio people automatically think of people like you whose cars give them head aches. Subwoofers were invented to fill a frequency range that could not be filled by smaller speakers. they were not invented to annoy your neighbors.
again, sorry for getting on my soap box.
BTW if you want to make it loud OUTSIDE your car, get a box with 2 subs, wire them out of phase. doesnt matter how good your amp is, use the BOSS if you want, and it will be heard from way further away.

well here are some decent amps that are in your range. i would go for the 650rms or better. ps sonix is a great place to buy from.Precision Power Mono Subwoofer Amps | Car Amplifiers | Car Audio | Car Audio, Video & GPS at Sonic Electronix

I wasnt talking about hearing my music, just the sub lol i know it sounds stupid but i like it so thats my opinion on that and if others dont want to hear a simple loud vibration then there is plenty of space on earth for them to go that im not at or they can get overthemselfes as i havent heard of ppl having complaints of loud vibrations have you? Just saying

Agreed with leag, if you're happy with the sound currently, wait before upgrading.
I've ran multiple boss amps when I have been on budget and I don't see much bad in them like people always say. They pound hard enough to beyond satisfy for me and give me the loudest subs in my city using a 3000w amp from them. And I also agree with sticking to Mono Blocks if it's for subs.

IMO you can do whatever you want in your space, but please dont do it in my space. I know its very hypocritical because i really love to hear clean muscle cars drive by at night, but it drives me up the wall hearing a crappy loud subwoofer system bumping through the neighborhood late at night.

I understand that lol no one hear with 30miles of me will hear it at night lol i live in the country not city so my neighbors wont even be close enough to the road im on to hear it lol anyways so if i want the amp to push the orion sub the harrdest as its 500watss rms will i run it 2ohms and in bridged mode? Because i tried this once and the sub seemed to sound crappy and like it was going to push out of itself like away from the box if it makes since. Im not positive it was hooked to 2ohms and bridged rite though either so.
