I used to have a pretty sweet system with a Boston Pro 12.5LF sub in a sealed box and that rocked. I've also heard two 10" Kappa Perfects and that was a good mix of sq and spl for me.
I'm now building up a sound system on a budget and currently have 2 12" Pioneer premier subs in a sealed box but it sounds very lose to me... ie flappy, and doesn't play very deep. The amp is a Soundstream rubicon 1002 amp (1000watts rms).
There's someone selling a 12L7 2005 model in a ported box made by kicker that I'm thinking about.
Is the sub in a ported box considered an SQ sub? I've had the original round Kicker solobarics before and they didn't have very good SQ. Thoughts?

from my understanding its much more of a SQ sub that has the SPL potential. I love the sub, just I got an offer from a shop that I can't really pass up. To give you an example, I can play heavy metal and it still sounds good, but it also has enough umph to get, kids attention and girls wet (so i've been told, by friends)
