The number of ways in a speaker does not necessarily mean that it is better. All it does is separate the existing frequencies and allows a dedicated speaker to handle a portion of them. A good 2 way speaker will outperform crappy 3 or 4 way speakers.
You buy your amp when you have identified if you need one and then how much power you can afford and the requirements of the task at hand.
When you buy speakers, concentrate on the front ones first and foremost. They are what you will be listening to the most. If it means that you have to forget about rear speakers for now, so be it. You choose a speaker again for the application, budget and expectations.

tweeters are essentially the little 1" or 3/4" speakers creating the higher frequencies to compliment a full speaker system. They have the freedom to be mounted and installed anywhere. This gives the installer options to try to get a good front stage. you will typically see them installed in the A pillars or the sail panels (but that's a whole debate on its own on where do they sound better). A simpler solution is to just buy a good set of Coaxial 2 ways where the tweeters are mounted in the centre of the midbase speaker.

lol i have the money its just not sure i wana fork over 1000 plus for a car stereo in one shot.
ya i have like 6000 so im probably going to buy a car for like 3500-4000 and then its like 1500 dollars a year just to get my car insured. AB insurance sucks. Or is it like that all around canada for new/young drivers.

wooooooow! try to shop around for the best insurance possible and make deals with the agents too. It doesn't have to be a local insurance company. I would search online and call a few 1-800 numbers of the bigger players. I have full coverage for 60$/month. But then again I'm 26 with a clean driving record (apart from the occasional speeding ticket)

Hey i Finally got my Car But I am broke now but i am still wondering what kind of set up I should have. I'm thinking maybe 2 12inch subs in the trunk, and 4 speakers. I'm not sure about the amps though.
If someone could suggest a system for me.
I want a audio system that is clear and i want the bass to sound and be real good.
The Genres that i like listening to are Rap,Rock,Metal
Oh ya and by the way the car that I bought is a 2005 Pontiac Pursuit.
my budget will probably be around 1000.
Thanks For your time.

well i'd start out with a good HU(deck) and build from there....also does that budget include install? if yes then your down even more....talk to rob(MR2NR) he's solid, i've yet to see anyone say anything negative about him. he hooked me up with my system in the summer and i'm still grinning everytime i slide into my ride. I did have more income to play with though...here's my set up. Deck:Eclipse 7200mkII, front speakers: Eclipse SC6500's, rears: Eclipse SP5710, Sub: 1 10" rockford P2S410(left over from last car) in a .683 cu ft. sealed enclosure, 4channel amp: Pioneer GM4300F, Sub amp: Ultimate T2 1200(also a left over). and lastly two door kits of brownbread sound deadener in the front doors. i'm not running insane rms either(400ish) but it sounds great with metal, hard rock, and rap. its far from a comp. build, but i have gotten compliments on how clear everything sounds. when i do upgrade the sub it will be to 400rms. i would like to go to 2 10's eventually but as this is a grocery wagon atm i need the trunk space(something to consider also). but like i said trust in rob he's a solid guy and knows his stuff, no shame in building slowly to get what you ultimately desire.
