Hi Guys,

I have a set of Alpine SPX-177A components installed in my ride for about a year. I've now decided to ditch the passive x-overs and go active with my Alpine 7897 deck. I have a Concept 4 channel amp rated at 80watts rms x 4 to power them. My question is, should I use the HP/LP x-overs on the amp and use the digital x-overs on my deck, or should I run a full range signal on my amp and only use the digital x-overs on my deck?

Will 80watts rms be too much for the tweets?

Does your deck have a bandpass crossover for the mid? Does the HP crossover go high enough for your tweets? If so you don't need to use the one in your amp.

Tweeters don't need a lot of power to get loud. Use the gain accordingly and you will be fine.

My Alpine 7897 front outputs can be hp @1.5khz, 2.5khz, 3.2khz, 4.0khz and up.

The rear outputs can be bandpassed.

If you ise the cross overs in the deck you can adjust them up front which is very handy.

Do you know what slope the x-overs in the deck are, and what they are in the amp?

I use both in my system, I don't know if that's good or bad.

i also use both.. it gives a steeper slope. if you've got 12db on the deck and 12db on the amp, you can use them both for a nice 24db slope
