New Alpine KTX-100EQ Imprint Sound Manager
The shop i deal with just did 4 cars and said the results were amazing. The program shows the changes it made and they are extreme. The only fallbacks the noted were it gains down each channel a little too much, and you need a dead silent place for up to an hour to tune it(which you would need with an rta anyway)However everyone was very impressed...they are overnighting it to me for tommorow and hopfully I will post results by the weekend.
One thing I have noticed since I went with this system is that if I am listening to source material below CD quality, this setup doesn't sound very good (this may only apply to my system so don't take it as gospel). For example, I mostly listen to music from my iPod or from a "direct-connect" Sirius tuner, and if any of those MP3's with low bit rates or satellite channels with lower bit rates is playing, it really shows. However if you have good source material, the thing sounds wicked!
Well 500 is certinally more then enough. Of course if you have a manual 31 band Eq with +/- 9db per octave that would be more then 500 points. Plus you still have all the phasing issues, crossover points and slopes and personal taste to contend with.
I think the "auto Eq" thing is great for retail shops and people who like the wiz bang effect, but like many things, I dont think you can replace a good set of ears with any piece of electronics.

I think they mean bands of eq when they say points, based on the information I've gathered from both the Audissey site and Alpine's site. It appears that they are using much more advanced eq filters and dsp chips, and a much more indepth analysis of the measured space. That said, in the end all that matters is how it sounds!
Being a recent proud owner of the 9887, I have been asking around for the KTX to get a price idea. a&bsound on the west coast hadn't even heard of it and they've been carrying the 9887 for several months. Anyone know ballpark pricing? Or do the install shops tune your car for you...
Hi all, i need some advice here..my system also running with cda 9887..and i have imprint module calibration kit..i'm running my system in 3 way mode..1 4chanel amp(front chanel for tweeter and rear chanel for mid front door)..no speaker at rear door...1 mono amp for sub..can i imprinting my system with 3way mode?or need to toggle the switch back to 2 way mode before do calibration with same diagram set up..?..i asked alpine tech support, he said, imprint not supporting 3 way mode...he asked me to change to 2 way mode..but he said i can still by amping my comp..i still use passive xover for my tweeter..i heard, some says, all amp need to off the active Xover ( set to full range) before perform imprint calibration..and the gain < half..anyone having same problem like this..pls help..i'm clueless..attached my system diagram..
