Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I have finally purchased the KTX imprint kit, borrowed a laptop, and ran the software using 3 mic positions, for my Alpine 9887.

This feature is really amazing, jaw dropping in fact:

1) It completely flattened my frequency response, taming some bright tweeters that irritated me at higher levels.

2) The speakers completely disappeared. I can no longer get that distinct directional sound where the tweeters and the mid bass drivers are. It's a wall of sound.

3) I now have a soundstage that s out the length of my dash. It's a game changer, when I A/B the before and after settings, the sound/voice is down by my knees(door install in a '03 civic) and after the voice moves to the center of the soundstage above my dash, along with the instruments out as the sound engineer intended.

I had a fairly good system to start with, Focal component 130V2 Polyglass(5 1/4) and a 12" MMats sub both run by a PPI 75 x 4 amp. But for the life of me, I don't understand why this technology hasn't taken over the car audio industry by now, it's that good. Maybe the price is a factor but still, if anyone out there is concerned/interested in SQ in their car, the Alpine Imprint feature will give you sound quality that rivals high end home audio.

One thing, being that it gives flat frequency response, it may cut your bass output. Simply decrease the gain on your amp and or bass on your HU before running the program, then turn it back up to suit after.

Is there anybody who has used the Imprint with a 3-way set-up? Anyone know what the imprint does with the mid & high crossover points. And when the program is running with a 3 way set up it chirps through the front speakers (is this sending the signal through both mid and high rca"s?) but doesn't chirp through the rear speakers. I expected a chirp through the mid drivers then the highs instead of front then rear (like it does when set to sub.w/front/rear).

If you guys have any experience with the imprint software tuning a 3-way system please share it.

Thanks
