New Battery, Need Some Opinions?

Hey guys. System is finally installed, and I now have thoughts of a better battery kicking around. I know some will suggest the big 3 instead of upgrading the battery, and that is coming as well, but just want some advice for a bettery so I can keep an eye out. Right now I have a regular car bettery, not OEM, but it is a reputable battery in terms of your everyday car. But, running a high demand system, I figure it wouldn't hurt to upgrade with the next bit of money I come across. My system consists of an monoblock amp (Kenwood KAC-9152D) which puts out 900 RMS & 1800 max. Keep in mind as well that a small four channel amp will soon be in order as well, which would do anywhere from 60 to 100 rms per channel. Stock altenator ( I assume it would be hard to find a H.O one for the car). Also, I'm driving a 99 Cavalier Coupe, if that helps with picking the batterys size. So, what do you think would be a good battery for me to look into? I don't have much knowledgr on them at all, I've heard the name Optima yellow and red tops many a time being used in the car audio scene. Let me know any suggestions you have. Thanks again,

Hodder

if you're doing lots of listening with the car off, a deep cycle battery would be nice.
or if you're like me and forget to turn off your headlights in the mornings. i think i've killed my excide orbital battery at least 5-6 times last year, plus two or three more times a year before... still seems to be good.

take a look at the classifieds.. a number of deals going on in there..
especially with some Yellow Tops..of course it all depends on your budget..
if your budget is not all there check out Crappy Tire perhaps..

Let me make this simple what you are saying is you need is a bigger battery. That means either 1) a physically larger battery in the hole the battery you are using is sitting in OR it means putting a second or third battery in. Pick your poison, pay the nice man.

Just changing brands to a AGM or gel cell is a means to an end but it may not be the whole answer. It will buy you a few extra battery killing episodes (me too dima)

And if you dont upgrade the 'big 3' save your money and keep your current battery since the added capability will be lost. Upgrading the big 3 might cost $20 dollars and then you may not need an extra battery after all!

A HO alt isn't a challenge to find for that car

Thanks for the advice John, you make some good points. I always assumed the HO alts for a 99 Cav were hard to fine, in all my browsing around e-bay, here, and local car sites, I've never seen one up for sale. As for listening to music while the car is off, I do, but I don't use the sub, just the front components. If I want to hear some bass, I'll turn the car on, as I know my battery can't handle the draw lol. The big 3 is getting closer to be done, as soon as I can find some 4 guage locally, but a HO alt would be a huge added bonus. And, if I could find a deep cycle battery for a decent price, providing I had the money, there'd be nothing to stop me from picking it up. So, in the meantime, anyone have any good suggestion for a Deep cycle battery to fit in my Cavalier? lol
