I was into my alpine manual and it says in the specifications section.

Max pre amp output@ 14.4 volts(4volts/ 10 k ohms.

Is that like the maximum rms, or like an amps max output opposed to its rms?

I spent some time last night searching and found alot of good info.
It seems that ya, +15 on the sub out winds up to be 3.5 volts, pretty much @ full volume.
So in fact the way i was setting my gain was fine.
Its the way ive been setting it since ive had this deck and this is the first questionable experience ive had.

I think im gonna ask them to trade me a sealed box for the ported, ive never been a fan of ported anyway, sorry dukk, lol

Ok if anyones interested this is were i stand.
They swithched the sub with another to rule out the sub,(same thing happened).
He told me that whem the trunk is open it releases the pressure and somtimes the result will be whats going on now.
The popping sound is not extreme, just audible over the bass, cant hear it whatsoever in the car.
As far as the gain setting is concerned, its fine,he actually says i can go farther(dont think i will though).
What you guys think?

Mike
