New re audio sxx subs not sounding good
I took my sub into a tech shop and they fixed my amp. They said I was running it too hard. Whatever the case it's fixed and they put bigger capacitors in saying that would give it more of a buffer when filtering out noise. Good news there. It was only 140 to fix it which isn't bad. I also brought them the new sub that was making noise to look at. They said that there was nothing wrong with it. Mind you they didn't run 1000 watts into it. They just tested the coils and and such and said it was fine. More good news. I took it home and hooked it up again and it played fine but still had that noise on big bass notes. I checked the leads and they weren't hitting the cone. I blew it out one more time and that seemed to help. Noise wasn't as bad. I put both the subs back in the box and they worked just fine. The noise can't be heard when they are in the box so I don't know what the deal is. As long as I can't hear it when its in the box I guess its fine. There are no performance issues what so ever. It pounds pretty good but not like my old setup. I don't think its the subs as they have the same specs as my old rd sx subs. The box they are in now is 2.5 cubes and tuned to 37 hz which is damn close to re specs. I think that they don't sound as loud is cause the box I had before was tuned to 42 hz which I hear slams harder but not good for music and also they ports were facing up and not forward like this box. I think the box is fine just doesn't work in my car. I am now going to sell the subs and box and think of a different setup. Cause I change my mind just like that. Peace.
