New SPL driver from Mach 5

Saying a specific driver sucks because it doesnt have a vented pole piece is like saying a specific driver sucks because it doesnt have the leads woven into the spider. Its just a different driver with a different design.
That said, I like when drivers do have vented pole pieces but is it really that big of a deal!? nooooo

...
yes the RE MT is an SPL woofer with no pole vent...this is supposed to be a SQL daily driver woofer not a SPL woofer so the cooling demands are differant since in SPL power is applied for 1 second. Of course this woofer does look pretty similar to an MT to me...don't know why they are saying its SQL and not SPL.

Neither does the BTL and if you ask Scott why the other RE and Fi drivers have pole vents, it's because they needed to take steel out of the motor to avoid over-motoring the drivers.

MTX drivers don't have pole vents and they make a pretty capable daily driver woofer. They have vents above the top plate for air flow. JL doesn't use pole vents either except in the W7 line.
IMO it's just what the designer chooses to go with

Dude, you are seriously so clueless... Like wow, your stupidity amazes me. This sub does not have any "new technology" and by the looks of it the only that that made it more of an "SQL" sub then the MT is the basket, because the motor looks the exact same and probably is. A pole vent helps cooling so much, and the only thing you are right about is there will be a higher BL when a pole vent is not used. But the "over motoring" thing is total BS because you can buy a Fi BTL with a pole vent if you want to use it for playing music. Take a commonly used subwoofer, hook it up to something such as a wall socket.... record how long it takes to blow up playing 60hz free air... now take the same sub and block the pole vent, and hook it up to the wall socket, I bet it will blow up faster.
