old style amp with 2 Power inputs and 2 Grounds..?
If you are only using those 2 amps, a single run of 4gauge from the battery to a distribution block will do fine. 2 runs of 8gauge from the distro block to the amp will take care of the amp's needs.
An upgraded or at least new alternator and a fresh battery will provide enough juice for you.

cool, sounds good.. yeah so my eXcelon monoblock runs off 1 4ga power wire, and come to think of it i have a distro block (not sure if it's fused or not) that will split another length of 4ga wire into 2 8ga wires...
so i guess with the 2 amps (and 3 power connections) i could run 2 lengths of 4ga wire to the trunk.. 1 to my monoblock and 1 to the dual 8ga distro, and the 2 8ga wires to the amp with the dual power
*edit* would that be the way to do it?
the battery, i have the eliminator spiral cell with 95min reserve so all i should need is a nice HO alternator, upgraded wires (BIG 3) i'll start a post about the alt in a few days
might have a game plan in my head now,
thanks alot for all the replies fellas.. this is definately appreciated!

If you really want to upgrade the power and grounds, you should be using 2gauge...
Unfortunately the cost of 2gauge distro blocks etc., is substantially more than 4gauge.

It will work, but as you say, it will look like you changed your mind halfway thru the install. Unless you are planning a lot of full volume cruising, it is probably unnecessary to boot.
All the distro blocks I have seen or used have the 4gauge input, the 2 or 4 8gauge fused outputs and at least 1 other 4gauge connection point. The extra one usually gets used to hook up a capacitor, but it will work fine for the amp with the single power input connection. As long as the wire is fused under the hood and the amp has a fuse or 2 as well, you will be fine.
