Optical? No no no, you kids crack me up. That's what they called a "DIN" cable. It would carry power, ground and signal (and remote-on in case of DIN cables going to amps and processors) all in 1 convenient cable. If the various manf's could have agreed on a standardized DIN pin layout, DIN probably wouldn't have died. But then that would have taken away the opportunity too for dozens of hyper-priced RCA cables that are on the market....

I'm interested in whatever other old skool Alpine goodies you can dig up!

yup.... its about 1 1/4" x 1 1/2" x 1/8" looks almost like a minature remote. it was what i ran in the 87 GN with the Alpine 12 disc changer.

ok im correcting you now..im not a kid im a young adult lol and IT DOES HAVE AN OPTICAL CABLE..i have pics to prove and heres some info i received from an Alpine old school fanatic

YES it has TWO OPTICAL Cables that run between the Head unit and the changer..

On the changer it has Front Rear and sub out DIN only and AUX in (Din of course)..

Normally you would have connected a single Din CD player like a alpine 5900 to its input as it would plug right in..
