I wish I could see the pics at work... because I blew them up at home and it really looked like an electical connector to me. If it's optical it's both ways too... so the changer sends signal to the headunit, it's processed, and then sent back. It baffles me why they would convert analog source to digital... but if it really is, maybe this is the world's only digital out automotive cassette player?

does not seem to make much sense, except for noise immunity, which as I recall was a major issue at the time in general. Given that the cassette was the high end, any amount of noise reduction in the signal would have been a big improvement.

Are you sure about the 7347 ? I think you meant 7374 (Din, dolby B,C,&DBX electronic controls..,)
I remember installing a 7375 into a '86 Jetta, pain in the A$$.

any oldschool guys interested in purchasing it? i was told back in the day these badboys went for well over 1500 bux!
Hi. I actually own a 7375. I seriously doubt that they only fetch $100 on the bay. I would give you $100 plus postage to the states if you want to sell it! Supposedly they only made 50-100 of them because Sony came out with their first CD changer the same year (1986). And yes, they do use a optical cable to connect the controller to the changer in the trunk. Not sure why though because all of the electronics are in the changer and that is where the outs are to the amp. It needs a amplifier as it is only a "pre-amp" out system.

There is a 7374 on Ebay now, which is just a regular head unit but with some of the same features as the 7375, and it is up to $200. I paid a lot more than I should have for mine but I was looking for one for awhile and thought it was as good as I was going to get. Oh well.....

Please write if you want to get rid of yours. I could also use the spare parts.

Blue Collar, I tried emailing you but your mailbox is full. Did you sell the Alpine 7375 yet? I would give $100 US for it, plus postage. Not sure if you sold it to someone else or not. I already have one but need some parts for it. It would probably fetch a OK amount on Ebay, but I am not sure.

I would not pay attention to the guy who said they only go on Ebay for $100, and only for the mint ones. I personally have never seen one on Ebay myself except for the one I bought, and I paid much more than that for mine and it was used. But it sounds like for some reason that most of them got dumped in Canada as a lot of the people who responded to your post had heard of them.

Anyway, let me know what you think about my offer or please put it on Ebay instead of letting it go for so cheap. I would LOVE to see what one goes for in a auction setting. Mine was bought using "Buy It Now" so I never got to see what they would go for.

You might want to stick it on Ebay. You would be surprised how much that old Alpine stuff goes for. Here is a example of an auction for the 7374 which is basically the same system minus the changer capability:
