As somebody mentioned earlier, it'd be totally cool if you could pick up the Hifonics line. I'm not sure what the deal is with them, but to my knowledge there aren't any Canadian dealers... I'm sure there's a reason for this though, like I say - I'm not up to snuff on how the distribution works and whatnot.

Well, any successfull shop is going to need draw products!
IE ( MTX, JL, Kicker, ect.....)
RE, US AMP, ectt.... although they may be the flavour choice of enthusiasts, they will not keep you in business very long.
95% of your market will have never heard of any of those brands, and a new company will have to build its reputation over time.
Reputable name brand products will help you do so, and you can flip them into your brand of choice. But they need to get in the door first.
If I would open my own shop I would choose a brand or 2 in chain stores and regional accounts and use their advertising dollars to assist your sales.
But the way car audio is going, it is a scary time to think about openning a shop, Hopefully you will be successful

about car audio dying... that's been said for the last 20 years, it's had a spike in the past3-4 years and is settling, but going out, I doubt.
I'm actually doing home audio/video as my bread n' butter though. I think the car audio will get me settled, and doing custom home installs. after i get a grounding I hope to expand with full TV showroom and such. to start off doing only custom A/V is just way too expensive
