a spike in the last 3-4 yrs eh?

I really hope the best for anyone investing in a business, but wherever your getting your data is incorrect. Car audio is a declining industry.

I think several factors atribute to this, Markets oversaturated with every installer thinking he can run a successfull shop, internet competition (legit or not), Cars are becoming harder to integrate into. ect...

And as far as custom home being expensive,,, that is the biggest business right now. Huge growth,, get it now on the up swing, Lead/dont follow.

I was just saying that its lame that there are no dedicated mobile electronics shops around Pdot anymore... there have been 3 or 4 shops close up in so many years..

Aside from kawartha tv/stereo, futureplop, and some electronics store on lakefield road that does clarion and like pioneer (or something) there really isn't any place to buy equipment.... don't know if there is still a shop in Lindsay anymore or not either......

That said I haven't seen all that much of a market for car audio here... I rarely see much around the university and the people I do know or see on the street with systems 9/10 times they at most have 2 350 watt 12's and 400-600 watt amp with some hu they all bought at FS....

your location will probably be key... where are you looking to setup shop ? someplace on lansdowne street ?
you have pm...

I'm hoping to get a shop right on george, there are a few for rent. I want my retail shop in a central location and my install bay not far from it... i might have a place lined up near the university on water street.

yea a central location is key... Landsdown by far gets the most traffic in town here and I think personally would be my 1st choice if you could find something at a reasonable cost....

Crow Rivers last spot was cherry, you couldn't miss it and they had a sweet install bay right on location.... the only independant I remember that was not on lansdowne, I believe was on chemong...

when do you hope to open ?

Is it just me or does the name Black Market Audio / Video sound a little over the top? Might scare away the higher end customer?

By the way, I come from an engineering background and know nothing about marketing, lol.

It was a prime location, but they got kicked out cause of the neighbors not liking the rukkus. the one on rye street was killer but then elisha got sick and closed up shop... shitty.

I'd love some feedback on the name. personally I love it, but it is very edgy and might lose customers... i couldn't think of anything better though. I'm gonna have to keep ALL my reciepts cause im gonna get audited every year

95% of your market will have never heard of any of those brands, and a new company will have to build its reputation over time.

Reputable name brand products will help you do so, and you can flip them into your brand of choice. But they need to get in the door first.

If I would open my own shop I would choose a brand or 2 in chain stores and regional accounts and use their advertising dollars to assist your sales.

But the way car audio is going, it is a scary time to think about openning a shop, Hopefully you will be successful

X2 , you will never make it with only boutique brands. If I was opening a store I would want Alpine and Rockford Fosgate (and Alpine is a competitor of mine now).
