lets not forget about THD and clipping.

u can over power a sub as long as u are not being stupid about it. once u over power and clip then it blows up.
lets also not forget that we are talking about a kenwood amp here. those makes make no power, they make dirty signal. so alot of dirty signal blew that sub up.

so u do admit to it being a clipped signal?

so lets see some specs on that sub, it's rms power handling, its max power handling and also some xmax figure. along with the info about the coil.

u do know that coil's thermal limit is much much higher than that kenwood amp could ever provide under normal use conditions (no clipping, and properly set LPF)

there are guys in db drag competing with these subs and the subs get 2000rms +. yes they do blow up aventually but not like this. only ripped spiders and surrounds.

Before you go out and insult someone then use your brains. Im a homo?

first off in the first page you said the reason the woofer blew up was because the x-over was set wrong??

now its because its a dirty clipped signal??

make up your mind.. Im the stupid one.. not stupid enough that i contradict myself on most every post..

Also if you think THD has anything to do with it ..... you have lots to learn my friend.

go Back and read a book.!!

umm now i see that it is very hard for u to consider more than one option at a time so let me break it down for u.......

first i thought of the xover settings....and AFTER i thought of clipping....EITHER one could be the reason. however, u are so challanged that u can not grasp the concept of 2 variables, thus u are saying that im contradicting myself.

Also if you think THD has anything to do with it ..... you have lots to learn my friend.
really?

Total Harmonic Distortion:
When an amplifier is driven with a signal, the output of the amplifier is an amplified version of the input signal PLUS any distortion created by the amplifier. All amplifiers and signal processors add distortion to the signal.

^^^^ Never thought I would agree with Tinted, but he's right. Slow/n\low perhaps you should do some reading of a book without pictures in it for the first time.

So Mr. Bisson, your telling me that THD is a possible reason for this woofer to blow?

are you not a rep, if so I find it very unprofessional for someone in your position to be commenting in that manner. But no sweat your intitled to an opinion

Lets just leave it at this,, it blew cause its RF.. that would make more sense to me.
