powers power it produces heat
heat bakes voice coils

Ok so if what you're saying is right, if you compare a basic sine wave to the same wave with a respectable amount of distortion, the distorted wave will produce more power simply because there's more area under the curve. That absolutely makes sense to me, but I don't buy that you can't blow a sub with a clean signal. If you're sending 500 watts of an unclipped sine wave to a sub rated to take 100 watts RMS, it's gotta burn out sometime... Hell, I'd buy a Pyramid sub just to test that theory, but unfortunately my sub amp is RIP.

To answer the burning (no pun intended) question... The sub was replaced under extended warranty </font>[/QUOTE]Regardless the end customer was taken care of and that is what matters!

WOW!best post ever, i can almost see peoples blood boiling, lol, as for you tinted, i have personally tested all the above speakers, there is a huge design difference in that particular 9500 sub, i am not saying that i am a mtx freak or anything, being an installer i am not biased on any brand i was just showing something that hasnt been done for a while, NASA, actually has given them the program for designing the heat dissapation and the surround, not trying to cause any greif here!

I have to add my ¢.02

I run a Planet Audio 2500D TESTED to do 2565WRMS @ 1ohm and 2122WRMS @ 2ohms.

I ran that amp last year and part of this year on 2-10" Memphis HPO (200WRMS ea) @ 2ohms at FULL GAIN and volume 30 of 35 with sub out at +15 on my Alpine deck in dB Drag comps without a problem.
I now use these subs in an SQ setup.

Ill tell you what, the last thing that a PA2500D produces at that power is "clean signal".

I personally think the sub might have been defective from the get go, or the new Punch subs suck ***...you choose. I choose the latter...

Dan your amp doesnt do 2500 rms. if it did then Barclay's D2's did 4000rms, and then my D3's do what??? 6000 rms?

Chris' meter was not working right when he did that test.
